lower lambda sensor

Yey engine light on, bank 1 sensor 2!!

tested the Ohms on a volt meter and its the post cat left hand sensor as you look at the engine so drivers side of the engine...

now there what £160 at toyota £222 online at some places... but.....

I am sure I have seen 'Denso' on some parts on the bus, would these sensors be ok? seam a fairer price, still nearly £60 mind!

my thoughts would be if its the same size thread tipe it will work, but you might find the one you got just needs taking out and cleaning over night in some thiners or something

done a resistance check on the two lower lambdas, ones pulling 28-32 ohms when tested, the other is strugglig to pull 13ohms so it looks like the sensor is dying.

I need to find out the toyota part number of the lower sensors as the company selling the denso ones gave me a list of compatable toyota numbers the sensor will work with!

I have seen a picture on a toyota website showing all 4 sensors part numbers, but can i find it now?! lol

so does look like the sensors heater wire is failing hence the P0141 fault code illuminating my dash

just phone toyota and they should tell you the part number

yea tried that, they gave me 89465, thats about half the part number!

so later ill try find the number on the sensor..... thats easier said then done though!

got the part number via a mobile phone camera and grazing my hand on the rad lol

89465 28290 and its a denso one.

So looks like i can get a denso one delivered for under £80 and a mates allready said he can get the old one out lol

Then its like for like and shouldnt confuse the ecu or anything and is half the price toyota want for the same brand sensor....

Then ill either disconnect the battery for 5 mins or so, or borrow my mates OBII scanner again to reset the ecu..... And I will buy a OBII scanner later in the year lol

just for info, the sensor that was reading 13-15ish ohms, still does!

the one that was reading 28-32ohms, is now reading 4ohms..... think we found the problem lol heater element is malfunctioning, so £74 delivered and a borrowed lambda socket maybe end of next week i can get it done!

Sensor will be ordered tues!!

sensors are just a pain. why cant we go back to the old way of knowing it wasnt working properly because of the smell of unburnt fuel.

well, to be honest, £71.76 delivered for a lambda better than a few hundred for a new cat once i realise it smells a bit rich lol

going back on subject was looking at your earlier posts and you said that the sensors had been done before you got it. If its got a recipt for it being done at a garage you might be able to take it and ask them why they gone again.

2 years ago they were done, at a toyota main dealer!

Cant see Toyota playing nice there after 2 years!! Was all 4 sensors and a new cat!

i would phone and ask how long they should last just to be cheeky. paying that much every two years is a bit much but then theyprobably lied when they said they changed all four. just the sort of thing i expect from any garage

I got the price down to £71.76 on special delivery so doesn't hurt as much. I'll order it on tuesday.

Wonder if its worth starting to spray some penetrating on the duff sensor or not while I await the sensor? As its on the manifold/cat down pipe, I know it'll burn off, but will it actually do any good in the process?!

Give it a spray and have a go at undoing it once its losed will save the job when the new one comes. I wouldn't have thought it be that bad if it has only been in for two years.

well, thats the lambda ordered and paid for SHOULD get it tomorrow and a mate will help me fit it on thurs.....

need to borrow off a mate a lambda removal socket off a mate and a OBII code reader, all arranged

Well the sensors arrived! Genuine denso one..... tested on the volt meter and reads the same as the good lower lambda in the car.....

cheers mate. oddly the new sensor, which it genuine denso, has toyota lazer etched into it?!

not complaning!!!

may have to use a ring spanner on it as my mate cant find his 27mm lambda socket  :but hes still looking!

and there looks to be enough room to work it out! find out tomorrow after school!

22mm ring spanner and came off nicely after a good spray or two of WD40 

code errased, lets hope thats the end of that for a while!

thanks guys would have been £160ish for the part at toyota then what £50 to fit? so thats £210 roughly (unless they claimed it needed a new cat too or something) and cost me £71 and pence to sort.....

result there I think!
