electric window prob help pls ?
« on: November 23, 2009, 03:42:56 PM »

you lot will be fed up with me on here ! ever since i've had my townie i've always had trouble with the drivers door window, it would work for a while then it would stop working altogether i would then have to take the door card off give the motor a little tap  Tongueand all would be fine for a while. the other day it wound down and wouldnt go back up but the motor carried on working and i had to keep flicking the switch up and down  to eventually stop the motor working and now the glass keeps dropping down on its own when i'm driving and the motor has packed up altogether again    any ideas what it might be guys it's getting on my wick now and it's a bit chilly to be driving round with the window open !

Sounds like you've worn the drive out.. and the spindle is now just spinning round inside the drive cog.
The sticking could have been due to worn brushes in the motor... and/or dirty glass guides.
Probably be a replacement mechanism...   Undecided

I know it's a long shot... but ring Gary at GT Motors... mention you're a member here and he'll do his best to help... might even have a spare window mechenism in his spares building.  Undecided
