speedo not working
« on: July 18, 2010, 10:25:30 AM »

hi all hope everyones ok  Smileyi was driving along the other day and my aces speedo was working fine one minute then it had stopped the next. it has done this before and a quick thump on the dashboard got it working again but not this time so i'm assuming it needs replacing does anyone know how difficult a job it is ? and where does it go into the gearbox i've looked on ace answers but it only shows the 4wd one and i can't seem to find where it goes on mine which is the 2wd.

Not too sure whether you have a cable driven speedo or an electrical set up..
Does sound like a lose connector if the BANG IT approach worked... lol
But due age it is likely to just be worn drive in speedo.
I'd go for popping speedo out, but knowing Toyota you'll most likely have a fair bit of plastic to remove to get to it..  Tongue
Maybe a call to GT Motors and ask Gary if he has any advice on how to attack the job. Wink
