Problems
« on: May 31, 2011, 09:17:01 PM »

My 1994 previa has developed a problem  Sad

On starting, it only starts on 3 cylinders.  As it warms up it does run on all four, until I am going uphill (even a slight incline).

I have replaced the HT leads, and cleaned the plugs.  There is no evidence of head/gasket failure on inspection of the oil and water.

Does anybody have any ideas as to what is causing it?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Well, sorted the running problem.

Now, when I go uphill, or it kicks down while under load, the temperature starts creeping up.  If I turn the heater right up, the temp guage comes back down!!  Have flushed the cooling system through, but doesnt seem to have made a difference!!

Any ideas???

what was the running problem.
Id check out the thermostat first could be its not fulling opening and letting enough cool water in, or a blocked rad and the water isn't getting cooled enough

It was one of the nipples on one of the plugs being loose!!!

Is the thermostat easy to get to?  Have completely flushed the rad, and made sure there is no debris on the exterior!!

I haven't actually seen the petrol engine but i would assume its in the same place under the drivers seat engine cover.

I've seen the petrol one but for the life of me I can't remember where it is, as Tony says probably under the engine cover.
