Judder ..Judder
« on: January 14, 2012, 10:01:10 PM »

        Hello All

A question I hope can be answered

Steering rack completely changed ,track rod ends  ball joints  etc

     front shocks changed

brake calipers and slides changed  ( thanks again Tony, much appreciated.)

But when I brake lightly ,there is still juddering ,felt through the wheel more so than the peddle. If i brake hard ...no judder

Question is ..what  next ..master cylinder or discs or something I have completely overlooked

      any help would be appreciated

             Thanks   dave

Did you fit new pads ?
Did you check discs for grooves or warp ?

May be the pads need bedding in... or pad compound is a hard type.
This gives longer life but needs harder pressure to work.
See how you go with them... hopefully it'll settle down as they are run in. Undecided

Only other thing I can think of is worn lower ball joints... but should be same when breaking hard too.
Or wishbone bushes are worn...  Huh?

pads are well worn in ( the way she drives  Grin)

and a big metal bar and plenty of grunt tells me all bushings are good too

I'll check the lower ball joints on the morrow

    many thanks young mr Kernowman

i take it theres no abs on your bus.
Have you checked your rear brakes
would not have thought the master cylinder. thats more a case of no brakes or no assistance.
I would be thinking the discs warped only a fraction wouldnt show to the eye but would cause the problem on light braking like braking with a buckled wheel on a push bike.

Thanks Kernowman

Its a 2w drive ..A 97 emina estima x(little scottish flag lower left hand corner ) tin top.

  Hello Tony
there is abs,  believe it or not , haven't needed it since last christmas(2010) ..but it still works.
As for the discs ,I should get a new pair as they are farely cheep on ebay ,the ones on my bus are probably there
since japan ,...but they honestly look and feel ok .I will have to get them done though ,cause Lynn drives it most of the time
and its always a worry

Make sure you measure your disc to make sure they match the kit... there are several sizes.
