RPM at 70-80 MPH

Just wondered if it is normal for the tacho to read 3000 rpm at 70-80 mph,its a 1996 2.2td automatic thank you.

Thank you as its the first time ive had a diesel auto i just wondered,did not know diesels rpm were higher than petrol.

not sure if thats the case the engine is a little underpowered for the size of the bus and needs to give that little more welly to move it. thats what i think anyway. lets face it it weighs that same as an xj6 and they dont put anything lower than a 2.9 petrol in them
