I have to admit... I was not a fan of sierra's when they first came out...as they stopped making Cortina's and replaced them with the sierra... but used Cortina parts/engine, etc to make the sierra..
Cortina's were so much more fun to drive....

Had a 1.8 sapphire myself, shipped it off about 7/8 years ago when the heater matrix started leaking badly, replaced it with a Serena
Bloke across the street from my mum bought it, looks better than when I sold it too. The last petrol car I had, still miss it (apart from the boot space )

I swore more often when I was driving it
I forgot to mention I had 2 Sierras over the years, think I done in the head of the first one, heater matrix went in the first one as well, boiled it dry and even after a ton of stop leak/rad weld stuff it still used coolant faster than tigger's been using ATF plus it drank almost a gallon of oil a week on a commute of less than 15 miles.
It definitely had seen better days though, bought at auction for about next to nowt, lights only worked if you flashed main beam, gearbox decided what gear you were getting not where you put the stick and wipers needed a shove to start them off. Still liked it enough to buy another one

Wow this is the first time i have seen this thread (Should open my eyes a bit wider). I loved the old school Sierra's, my first car was a three door 1.6 MK1 Sierra which had a 2.1 Pinto in it and the obligatory RS500 Bodykit. Went like s*** of a shovel and being rear wheel drive was superb to drive. Was such a great car and was in great nick too. The only reason i put the 2.1 Pinto into it was because just after i inherited it off my old man it decided to break its cambelt and although it didn't cause any damage i was offered the Pinto at such a ridiculous price i would have been stupid to say no!

Thats a beauty-----------before it got pranged, pity you didnt have a towbar when it happened. I hated the seirra when it came out, looked like a mobile jelly, only when the XR4 3 door came out was it nice. The first time I took notice of the saloon type was at an auction in Longford (Ireland) it was an ex Garda (police) car in mid blue. Looked fantastic even though the abuse was evident.
Cossie saloon type sierra's are now worth a fortune, the good ones are anyway if you could find one.
